Student Activities

Work Hard, Play Hard

Hargrave maintains an active and involved Student Activities Department. A mixture of activities are planned for closed and incentive weekends, both on and off campus. Cadets are welcome to sign up for these supported activities, which allow them time away from campus to enjoy the many opportunities available in the region.

Not every activity is for every Cadet. Student Activities strives to provide a variety of opportunities to the Cadet Corps, and there is something for everyone. Popular activities are often hiking, white water rafting, fishing, climbing, rappelling, snow skiing and a variety of other activities. For Cadets who prefer to remain on campus, Hargrave hosts a 50-meter indoor pool, tennis courts; a Marine rated obstacle course, a Marine rated climbing tower, a leadership reaction course, and a paintball course.

Several times throughout the academic year Student Activities arranges experiences to enjoy regional collegiate and professional events. Past trips include: NCAA and NFL football, NCAA and NBA basketball, MLB baseball, NFL hockey and NASCAR events.

Hargrave's student activities also offer trips to several points of interest. These trips include, but are not limited to: Lynchburg’s Snowflex Center, go kart tracks, off-campus paintball, Wet' n Wild waterpark, King's Dominion, dances and socials with girls’ schools, movie trips, and more. In addition, Student Activities oversees trips to grocery and home goods stores to allow Cadets the opportunity to stock up on the necessities for life on the barracks.

PADI Scuba certification (with a lifetime PADI Certification) courses are also offered.
