Adult
Supervision
Hargrave’s
military structure is the backbone of the Academy.
The military model provides order, stability and purpose
for all students. It also provides students a safe,
well-disciplined learning environment geared for individual
success.
All academic
classes, study halls, athletic and adventure activities
are supervised by highly qualified teachers, coaches
or instructors. Hargrave’s Commandant supervises
residential life and adherence to the daily schedule.
A student’s personal contact with adult leaders
is an important aspect of growth and learning at the
Academy.
Student
Behavior
Students
are expected to follow the rules and regulations of
the Academy. Hargrave maintains a strict Zero-Tolerance
Drug and Alcohol policy. Possession of drugs, alcohol
or weapons is grounds for immediate dismissal from
Hargrave.
Dress
Code
Hargrave’s
summer uniform is relaxed and feature polo shirts
and shorts. Tennis/running shoes must be supplied
by the student. Hiking boots are recommended for High
Adventure participants. All students are required
to have conservative haircuts. Uniforms are included
in the cost of the program.
Summer School's WHAT TO BRING LIST
Christian
Services
Hargrave
believes in developing the whole person as its Christian
mission. The Academy is aligned with the Baptist faith
and Christian spirituality pervades all aspects of
the Academy. During the summer, students attend all
worship services.
Hargrave offers two worship
services during the week. These services include a
9:00 AM Sunday service, and our Vespers service on
Thursday evening. Parents are welcome to join the
students during these services. |
