Press Release for February 21, 2012

Hargrave’s chapter of Mu Alpha Theta inducted ten new members into its ranks during a recognition ceremony on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.

Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society with over 88,000 student members with more than 1,800 participating schools. Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

The organization organizes a National Convention for students and teachers to participate in math-related events and interact with others from across the country. They reward outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards to both students and their faculty advisors. Finally, they provide mathematics competitions to participating members at their own school through the ‘Log 1 Contest, the Rocket City Math League,’ and the ‘Presentation Contest.’
