Hargrave Signs Five to NCAA Division I in Basketball

Press Release for November 10, 2011

Hargrave Military Academy participated in NCAA’s National Signing Day for basketball on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the Academy’s auditorium. Five Hargrave Post-Graduate players signed their Letter of Intent to schools with NCAA Division I basketball programs.

“It was a very exciting day for our program and our school. Five of our young men signed full Division I scholarships to some of the best schools in the country,” said Coach A.W. Hamilton, Head Coach for Hargrave’s Post-Graduate basketball program. “We’re very proud of how these five young men carry themselves both on the court and in the classroom.”

The following players signed:

Buggs, Charles - Minnesota: Arlington, TX
Burke, John -  University of Missouri at Kansas City: Atlanta, GA
Harrell, Montrezl - Virginia Tech: Tarboro, NC
Miller-McIntyre, Codi - Wake Forest: Concord, NC
Washington, Andre - Wake Forest: Rocky Mount, VA

In addition to its traditional varsity and JV basketball teams, Hargrave supports a basketball team for student-athletes who are high school graduates that need to increase their GPA or SAT/ACT scores; need additional exposure due to a lack of high school playing time; or need more time to develop physically prior to playing at the college level.

Hargrave’s Post-Graduate basketball program routinely assists student-athletes in overcoming obstacles to their personal goals. It also enhances an athlete’s exposure to college schools and provides time needed for further mastery of the sport.
