Hargrave Hosts Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Basketball Challenge

Press Release for January 6, 2012

Hargrave is hosting the Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Basketball Challenge on January 11, 2011, in the Academy’s Walter Davis Gymnasium. Two games will feature four teams in The Challenge.

The first event begins at 5:30 p.m. with Massanutten Military Academy playing on St. Ignatios Prep. The second game at 7:30 p.m. features home team Hargrave Military Academy playing Mt. Zion Academy.

VitaleBoth Pepsi and Dick Vitale have joined the cause, and have donated their time and energy to this worthy event. All proceeds from this event will be going to The V Foundation for Cancer Research (http://www.jimmyv.org/). Admission will be $5 at the door. Concessions will be available.

Vitale recently endorsed The Challenge saying, "Please support the Pepsi Fight Against Cancer Challenge at Hargrave Military Academy. They are helping in the battle against cancer, a disease that affects all whether one is rich or poor, black or white. That disease can bring you to your knees. We must all unite to beat that disease.”

Vitale is one of the most prominent figures of The V Foundation. He was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Hargrave Post-Graduate Basketball Coach A.W. Hamilton is very appreciative of Vitale and Pepsi for helping in this first and hopefully annual event.

"We’re excited that Pepsi and Dick Vitale are helping us with such a great cause. Raising money for cancer awareness will be a great victory for our school and community,” said Hamilton.
