Hargrave offers more to the International student than great ESL preparation. The Academy also maintians the following programs for our International Students.
College Preparatory Program
If a student's English skills are strong, we offer our College Preparatory Program. This program has a strong academic focus with emphasis on leadership, organization and study skills which creates a perfect learning environment for the foreign student. These students will work with Hargrave's College Placement office for college placement.
Post-Graduate Academic Program
Our Post-Graduate Program offers a great opportunity for students to spend a year at Hargrave improving English skills, developing stronger academic skills and adjusting to American culture, while applying for a college or university. This program is limited to students who have not reached their 21st birthday before entering the Academy.
International Community Program
All foreign students are considered part of the International program and are eligible and encouraged to participate in all International activities. Hargrave has a very active International committee who plans and executes many activities through the year to allow the foreign student to be totally immersed in the American culture. Three major trips are planned each year to include New York City; weekend trips are taken to historical sites, museums, fairs, festivals and, of course, shopping. Movies and sports events are always a favorite outing for our foreign students. One of the highlights of the year is the International Education Week which is celebrated on the campus with decorations, food, special programs and a talent show.
Orientation
International students are given a week’s orientation prior to the beginning of the regular school session during which they will be introduced to Hargrave faculty and staff and taken on daily field trips to become familiar with the community.
