Hargrave's Center for
Integrated Studies
Contact: MAJ Michael Woodruff,
Director of the Center for Integrated Studies,
at 434-432-2683.
Hargrave’s
Center for Integrated Studies (CIS) presents a dynamic classroom
experience using a combination of single- and team-teaching styles. The
Academy’s CIS instructors enjoin their students in the learning
process, building academic aptitude, self-confidence in subject
material and, most importantly, instilling a love for learning through
the CIS process.
CIS instructors present the core of
Language Arts, Cultural Studies, and Integrated Science using a
thematic approach, which engages all disciplines under one general
theme. The CIS math program is stuent-centered and self-paced. Themes
and related subject material change routinely. Students employ thematic
topics in team work projects, using hands-on applications and by
incorporating advanced educational technology to engage today’s student.
