Learn to a Beat
Contact: CPT Wes Robertson, Music Director, at 434-432-2481 x2132.
One of the strengths of Hargrave’s CIS program is to provide the student a range of experiences and fun opportunities to learn new things. It is a great age of discovery, where the student learns more about himself and his capabilities as a young man.
Hargrave’s CIS Band and Music program is one such opportunity. The program is capable of working with a student from the beginning. Based on their desire, commitment and hard work, they can easily become an accomplished musician prior to high school graduation.
CIS music classes do train younger, inexperienced students to be potential members of the Band here at Hargrave. These classes move pretty quickly, because they are designed to get students up and running for the Band program. They cover music theory, ear training, rhythm training and private lessons on their instrument, since Hargrave sees a variety of ability levels and different instruments and needs within the same class. This allows the Director to tailor for individual levels.
Additionally, there is ample opportunity for students to work on their music during lab and Individual Instruction Time, a time where practice makes a better student and a stronger player in a chosen instrument.
