Modern college campuses are hotbeds for technology use both in and out of the classroom. To stress our Cadet’s future in these types of educational environments and to better prepare them for college, Hargrave has created a comprehensive technology program utilizing powerful servers, wireless networks and netbook computers that provides our students full student access to the Academy’s online educational resources, email and the Internet.

Hargrave invests heavily in the technology aspect of college preparation, and aggressively maintains an ongoing commitment to it on behalf of our students. Every effort to provide better service to our Cadets with the Enhanced Learning through Technology program is typically consumed quickly by new generations of students that are quite comfortable with its broadening utilization.

To maintain service at a level that both Parents and Cadets expect, technology development at Hargrave is an ongoing process for the Academy. Hargrave’s Information Technology (IT) Team remains abreast of current developments and trends in the industry.

The S10e Netbook

Central to each student’s interaction with the Hargrave student network is the Lenovo S10e Netbook from Attronica. The S10e Netbook is a powerful, compact and lightweight laptop computer that provides exceptional performance, reliability and battery life for each student’s educational needs.

The goal of the Netbook is to enhance the learning of each Cadet by providing easy and appropriate access to curriculum based resources.

The S10e Netbook is not as bulky and heavy as a traditional laptop. It is easily transported in a bookbag, which is a blessing for our smaller Cadets, and still retains the computing power needed by our juniors and seniors.

Attronica, a Lenovo reseller, is Hargrave’s supplier for the S10e Netbook. Lenovo is a recognized leader in educational netbooks and other solutions or the educational community.

All students from grades 7 through Post Graduate access their educational resources, email and the Internet through the S10e Netbook.

The S10e Netbook uses wireless access points to connect to the Hargrave network both in the classrooms and on the barracks. Hargrave images, programs, each Netbook with the appropriate educational resources.

The S10e Netbook is purchased independently from Hargrave and remains the property of the Cadet and his family. It is inexpensive and a great value for the price. Each S10e Netbook comes with an AC adapter, power cord and battery. Extra AC adapters, batteries and product warranties are available for additional purchase from Attronica.

In case of damage, repair of the S10e Netbook is handled by Lenovo directly. Damaged Netbooks will be shipped out for repair by Hargrave’s IT Team. Cadets will have access to their educational resources via our library desktop systems. Depending on circumstances, a Cadet might be without use of the Netbook until its return. A student will not be without access to the network during this period.
