| Scouting Equipment List
Due
to Scouting requirements, Hargrave Scouts maintain
a larger collection of gear than the average Hargrave
Cadet. Please ensure your Scout has the right equipment
for all Scout outings.
Knives
are not permitted at Hargrave. Please do not bring
your Scout knife or other knife to the Academy.
The following supplementary items to Hargrave-issued gear are required for most scout outings and may optionally be purchased either through the school Quartermaster or through the troop:
- Sleeping Bag
- Two (2) Nalgene-style Water Bottles
- Boy Scout Handbook
- Hiking Socks
- Foam Sleeping Pad
- Rain gear/Poncho
- Flashlight
- Canteen Cup
- Mess Kit (Metal)
The following items are optional, but recommended:
- Hiking Boots
- Camera
- Sunscreen
- Compass
- Chapstick
- Personal First Aid Kit
Hargrave’s troop maintains a stock of two-man, three-season tents which are issued to scouts each camping trip and for which they are responsible for maintaining. However, personal tents may be brought to school for use on trips.
The troop provides the cooking gear, stoves, water purifiers, rope, tools, first aid kit and other standard camping equipment for outings.
Approved Cadet medications are picked-up before each outing and issued by the scoutmaster as instructed by Hargrave’s infirmary.
Parents are certainly welcome to come along on any troop outing, but are expected to provide their own camping gear.
