When to Build

Is this really the time to build a new President’s House? When considering other campus projects that need to be addressed, this is a fair question. The answer from then-President Baker and the Board of Trustees was a resounding yes! When we step back and look at the campus as a whole, it becomes apparent that the President House is a necessary fund raising tool.

For the first time in its 100 year history, Hargrave Military Academy will have the ability to invite and entertain Alumni, Board Members, Donors and distinguished guests in a prominent and central location. The House enables alumni to meet and celebrate their memories of great Hargrave experiences.

In addition, it serves as a setting for future Alumni meetings and Sabre Club gatherings. As a bonus, the President and Commandant will once again be living on the Hargrave campus.

The projected cost for the President House is $1.4 million. The Board of Trustees has stepped up to the plate with a resounding $1.1 million and has made it their initiative to complete the funding.

I encourage other donors, the Alumni Board and our fellow Alumnus to take the torch and move forward on funding. Through our generous giving, Hargrave can continue its tradition of producing America’s next generation of great leaders.
